Is Hollywood Disruption free?

Our most basic plan is free. With it, you get access to Beachwood — our answer to Final Draft — plus some of our production tools, and you can collaborate on screenplays you've been invited to. Inviting collaborators to your own screenplay requires a paid plan. No credit card required to start!

Does it work on mobile and tablet?

We recommend that you use a laptop or larger — editing a screenplay or working on production data through a phone is simply not practical. You might have better luck with a tablet if you just want to check on something, but if we're being honest, it's still a bit small. Nothing inherently stops you from viewing the site on a phone or tablet, but that's just not how we roll. Get a laptop, grab your coffee, and be serious about what you're doing. Screenwriting and planning a production is already hard enough. Why make it harder by trying to do it on a mobile device? 'Nuff said.

Can I import scripts from Final Draft?

Yes. We support FDX import so you can bring your existing work over in seconds. Your formatting, scene headings, and dialogue all come with it.

How does real-time collaboration work?

Invite collaborators by email. Everyone writes in the same screenplay simultaneously — like Google Docs, but built specifically for screenwriters.

What file formats can I export to?

PDF and FDX (Final Draft) for now. More export formats are on the roadmap. You'll need to be on a paid plan to use this feature.

Is my data secure?

Yes. All screenplays and production planning data are encrypted in transit and at rest. We use industry-standard cloud infrastructure and never share your content with third parties.

Can I write offline?

Yes. Hollywood Disruption supports offline writing. Your changes sync automatically when you reconnect.

What is Reader Mode?

Do you have an agent who reads your screenplays? Or how about a writing coach? If those two don't apply, how about just someone you want to read your work and get their opinion? Rather than having to print out your screenplay and passing them a hard copy or emailing them a PDF file, you can use Reader Mode to allow a user to read a snapshot of your screenplay. You get to know that they're reading it, how much they've read, and the best part, they would only be reading a locked version of your screenplay that is separate from any edits you have in progress.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

You keep access to everything you've written. You'll be given an opportunity to export any data if you wish. At the end of the billing period, your account will revert to the Free plan — you can still read and edit your scripts one-at-a-time within the free-tier limits.

How is Hollywood Disruption different from Final Draft?

Final Draft is a desktop app with a one-time or subscription purchase. Hollywood Disruption is browser-based, supports real-time collaboration out of the box, and bundles both screenwriting and production management tools. We're not trying to be 100% of what Final Draft is, but we feel that we're giving them a run for their money. All of our production tools will get you from zero-to-hero better than StudioBinder, with much less confusion. It doesn't cost you anything to sign up and try Hollywood Disruption for yourself.
